My name is John Michael Baker. I was born in Wimbledon, South West London, the youngest of seven brothers and one sister. I discovered my love for art at an early age and was encouraged to further this by my girlfriend Anne, now my wife of many years, and the family. Most of my siblings have at least one of my early efforts, given as gifts, in their homes.
We, (Anne and I ) moved to Scotland in 1975 to start a new life with our baby daughter, Joanne. But raising a family meant my art had to take a back seat. It became something I did in snatched moments, when I had time, after the chores of everyday life. But I kept at it as this was my way of relaxing because I enjoyed it so much.
Whilst I am completely “self taught” with no form of professional training I have been asked and completed a wide variety of commissions from full size murals on pub walls to sketches of private houses or favourite locations. Several customers returning with further requests.
I joined the Largo Bay Art Club and have learnt to enjoy and express myself more in my art. This has been a learning curve for me and now I am happily retired I am able to make the most of it all. Recently I was asked if I would be interested in holding some exhibitions of my work. I was pleased that people thought my work was good enough for others to see but I was not prepared for the fantastic feedback received from these. The sale of my work at these exhibitions has given me a personal boost I am unable to express.
Now please proceed into the website and leave your feedback/comments whether they are negative or positive. It will be most appreciated.
